Important of Radiated Emission Testing
Ege Test Center and Radiated Emission Test
Radiated Emission , in other words, by means of Radiated Propagation is only one of the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) tests. According to the product to be tested according to the EMC standard is determined after determining an anechoic chamber (anechoic chamber) or in the open field test area (OATS) is a test must be done. The purpose of the Radiated Emission test is to determine whether the unwanted electromagnetic frequencies of the product are below a certain level. Radiated EmissionIf the measurement results of a product being tested are below the limit values specified in the relevant standard, this test is considered to have passed. If the measurements on the limit are obtained, a change in design or EMC is required on the remaining product. The studies carried out on this kind of product are R & D studies and are very important works for the producer.
What You Need to Know About Radiated Emission Test
The measured frequency range of the Radiated Emission tests usually starts at 30 MHz and can be up to 1GHz, 2GHz or 6GHz depending on the product specification and the applied standard. Measurements are made with the antennas designed for the specified frequencies and the measurement devices called the EMI Receiver. The measuring distance between the product and the antenna is usually 3 meters or 10 meters. It is also possible to change the limits according to the measuring distance. For example, the limit value of 40 dBuV / m at 3 m can be reduced to 30 dBuV / m if the measurement is done at 10 m.
The Radiated Emission test is one of the most basic tests of EMC tests, so it is a test that the product designers should be familiar with. Measures related to EMC testing of a product should start at the design stage of the product and continue during the serial production phase. Even when the product is in the end user, it should be followed.
What are the requirements for automotive parts and components to be allowed in the European market?
In Europe, the quality of your products is often measured by meeting specific requirements. Failure to fulfill or fail to meet these requirements will or will disrupt your attempts to find buyers in the European market.
1. Requirements to meet
Type approval – Compliance with technical standards for motor vehicles
All Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) is a certificate for various types and types of motor vehicles. EU legislation has introduced strict conditions for the harmonization of technical, safety and environmental standards among EU Member States (vehicles) and for agricultural and forestry tractors.
This type of approval or certification is valid in all EU Member States and is necessary when you wish to sell your products in the EU. Many automotive components have not been approved until final assembly. In these cases, it is not necessary to certify individual components; however, these components will have to comply with the type-approval requirements.
In 2017 the testing process will change. In addition to the current laboratory emissions and fuel consumption tests ( New European Driving Cycle ), a Real Driving Emission (RDE) test will be performed. Europe is also contributing to the development of a new global testing system called the World Wide Harmonized Light Vehicle Testing Procedure (WLTP).
Tips:
CE marking
Electronic equipment must be CE marked for marketing in the EU. The CE marking indicates that a product is assessed before it is placed on the market and meets EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements. The CE marking is sometimes also considered a means of conformity to the type-approval requirements; For example, electronic components requiring type approval and also electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) or CE marking for low-voltage equipment.
Tips:
chemicals
To prevent environmental damage, the EU has restricted the use of certain chemicals in certain Regulations and Directives.

EMC Test for Medical Devices
The Importance of Medical Devices in Our Lives
Nowadays, the medical devices used in medicine are very important. Ultrasound, magnetic resonance, dentist chair, radiological methods, such as the diseases formed in our body to be seen in the finest detail is possible to see. There are EMC tests that must be applied to medical devices used in medicine, the accuracy and construction of these tests is very important. In the case of improper application of parts, such as standard, test coverage, human health is at great risk when any problem occurs.
The Importance of CE Marking for Medical Devices
The CE marking is of great importance for the medical devices to easily move around Europe. The EMC tests of these types of medical products and the CE Marking carry important factors such as health, safety, environment and consumer protection.
To get CE Mark on Medical Devices

How is EMI Test done?
If the device causes any electromagnetic interference
EMI do, electromagnetic interference tests, radio frequency wave operating devices, malicious broadcasts, operating frequency and output power controls. If it is determined that the device does not cause any electromagnetic interference in such an environment, The device is successful in the EMI Test.
if the device is causing any electromagnetic interference, CE certification cannot be given to the device under test as it may disrupt the operation of other devices.
Telecommunication devices that do not meet EMI Test requirements
The devices covered by the Radio Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive must meet the EMI Test requirements in order to obtain CE certification. In the scope of the directive, all radio and telecommunication equipment, such as mobile phones, satellite receivers, fixed and direct phones, ADSL modem and other data modems, base stations, radio and TV transmitters, must meet the EMI Test requirements. Telecommunication devices that do not meet the EMI Test requirements may disrupt other devices or disrupt their operation.Likewise, these devices can also be damaged by interference due to this electromagnetic interference. Therefore, a telecommunication device must meet the requirements of the EMI test in order to obtain a CE certificate.
EMI test is carried out by the engineers in laboratory environment by considering different conditions. Whether or not the device causes electromagnetic interference is controlled by the Radio Telecommunication Terminal Equipment Directive with different variations. If the device does not cause any interference, it is approved for the CE certificate. Since the device or products must have CE marking in order to be circulated in the European Union free market, it is mandatory to apply EMI Test to the telecommunication products.
If the device does not cause any interference
After being tested in EMI test laboratories, being careful during the report and document phase is also very important for getting CE certificate. It is therefore necessary to be careful when choosing test laboratories.
