EMC TEST – EMC TEST LABORATORY

We are at your service with our EMC Test Laboratory and our expert engineers. Please contact us for EMC test requests or information.

The Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMU or EMC) Tests required for the CE Certificate must be applied to any electrical equipment, machine or equipment. EMC tests must be carried out on this product if it can be affected by an electromagnetic environment or if it can be affected by an environment of an electrical product, whether it is operated with 220V AC or with DC (with battery or adapter).

There are several regulations concerning EMC Tests : EMC Regulation 2014/30 / EU  , Regulation No 99/5 / A Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment, Directive 2006/42 / EC Machinery Safety, Regulation on Medical Devices No. 93/42 / EC . The most well-known and most regulated electrical product is the EMC Regulation.

EMC Tests are applied after determining the product standard, EMC tests are generally listed as follows:

  • Radiated Emission
  • Conducted Emission
  • Electrostatic Discharge – ESD (EN 61000-4-2)
  • Radiated Immunity (EN 61000-4-3)
  • Electrical Fast Transient/Burst (EN 61000-4-4)
  • Surge (EN 61000-4-5)
  • Conducted Immunity (EN 61000-4-6)
  • Voltage dips, short interruptions and voltage variations (EN 61000-4-11)
  • Harmonic Current Emissions (EN 61000-3-2)
  • Voltage Changes, Voltage Fluctuations and Flicker (EN 61000-3-3)

The Aegean Test Center can also carry out EMC tests at the manufacturer’s premises. As Ege Test Center , we carry out EMC testing and reporting of your products within the scope of EMC Directive, Machinery Directive or other directives .

The following lists the specific EMC standards for electrical appliances and information technology devices used in machines, households, and so on. CE certificate and international approval studies are selected according to your product and the required EMC tests are applied and reported as standard.

EMC TEST STANDARDS

  • EN 61000-6-1 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMU); Section 6-1: General standards-Settlement units, immunity standard for commercial and light industrial environments
  • EN 61000-6-3 Electromagnetic compatibility (emu) – Part 6-3: General standards – Emissions standard for residential, commercial and light industrial environments
  • EN 61000-6-2 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMU) – Part 6-2: General standards – Immunity to industrial environments
  • EN 61000-6-4 Electromagnetic compatibility (emu) – Part 6-4: General standardsFlow standard for industrial environments

 WHY IS THE EMC TEST IMPORTANT?

Each electronic device has the potential to be vulnerable to electromagnetic fields. An excessive number of electronic devices in the life of the global population cause an electromagnetic disturbance to interfere with each other. For this reason, Electromagnetic Compatibility is of vital importance.

In addition to common products, EMC is an indispensable part of our lives: computers, television units, washing machines and others. It is also included in high-tech and sensitive products with a certain sensitivity to EMC effects. These:

  • Airplane;
  • Ships;
  • Major industrial installations;
  • Tools

With the deaths of 137 people in the US Navy accident in 1967, EMC showed that the EMI problem should be given importance since then.

EMC, EMI Tests and harmonized standards in accordance with the products are tested in accordance with the necessary measures are taken.

WHAT IS ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY TEST?

The Electromagnetic Compatibility Test ‘is often abbreviated as’ EMC test’. The EMC test is used to ensure that different equipment works in the same electromagnetic environment. The EMC compliance test consists of two main parts. First, the ‘Emissions’ and the second ‘Immunity or sensitivity’. For example, while only mandatory emissions in the United States is essential both emissions and immunity testing in Europe and Turkey.

EMC Test is mandatory for many product groups covered by the regulation. Starting from the design stage, getting support for EMC and developing the product in a planned way ensures that you are successful in EMC Tests and you do not need to worry about product safety.

All electronic devices must   be able to perform their functions in an electromagnetic environment and must be subjected to EMI / EMC tests to determine and prove this feature.

HOW IS THE EMC TEST PERFORMED?

EMC Tests are applied as two groups under the name of diffusion and immunity.

In the emission test, the electromagnetic propagation from the air and cable is measured around the devices. Sample tests:

Connection End Detection Voltage Test

Emission test by radiation

In the immunoassay tests are carried out and the immunity of the device is tested by simulating the possible exposure conditions. Sample tests:

Electrostatic Discharge Immunity Assay

Electrical Fast Transient Regime / Explosion Immunity Assay

Immunity test against sudden increases

Immunity test for voltage pits, short interruptions and voltage variations
